Vending What?

This is no joke, hitting up a vending machine for marijuana is now possible in Los Angeles!

Herbal Nutrition Center has installed operating machines next to two dispensaries that are open 24/7. Security Guards are present, to keep any people away who might not “meed” the pot, but after you get a perscription from your doctor (for your, uh, back pain) you have to be fingerprinted and jump through some other hoops.

But then, dude you are righteous. Hit the machine and walk away with the finest cheeba you need.

Water Powered Calculator

By Luke Anderson

How many of you hate changing the battery in your calculator? I know that I would, were they not as a majority, solar-powered. Apparently someone has decided that light is a resource that we are using up far too quickly, and thus designed a calculator that runs off of water.

For this little guy to work, you just pour water into the rear and insert a stopper. The electrolytes in the water will take care of the rest. I’m seriously wondering what kind of person would believe that their calculator would need a power source other than light. Seriously, how would you use this without working in an area with plenty of light? If you’re intrigued by this water-powered gadget, you can pick one up for $8.99. Personally, I’ll wait for these guys to make a car that’s powered by water.

Greening the Garage

The Miami Beach garage is definitely green, but the first LEED-certified parking garage in the United States is in Santa Monica, Calif. The new public garage at the Santa Monica Civic Center, designed by Moore Ruble Yudell Architects and Planners, recycles its rainwater, a white interior reflects more natural light, and photovoltaic panels on the roof provide electricity as well as shade. There are six levels of parking above ground and two below.
